Strategic investments

Investing in what changes risk

Orbital Assurance invests in technologies that improve how space risk is measured, mitigated, and verified.

§ 01Portfolio
01 — Measure

xOrbita

What they do

Space-based sensing and analytics intended to improve visibility into smaller orbital debris that is difficult to consistently track from Earth.

Why it matters to insurance

Better debris data means collision probability can be estimated rather than assumed. That is the input an underwriter needs to price orbital risk instead of loading for uncertainty.

02 — Mitigate

Atomic-6

What they do

Space Armor — structural debris and micrometeoroid protection designed to reduce the physical damage an impact causes to a spacecraft.

Why it matters to insurance

Insurance transfers the financial consequence of an impact; shielding reduces the chance it ends the mission. Lower modelled probability or severity of loss means a lower expected loss on the risk.

03 — Verify

SpaceRig

What they do

Modular spacecraft testing, processing and AIT infrastructure, alongside a longer-term Flight Readiness Network.

Why it matters to insurance

Standardised test data turns 'we believe it will work' into evidence an underwriter, customer or lender can review. Verification is what makes a mitigation claim credible at placement.

Measure the hazard. Mitigate the loss. Verify the solution. Insure the residual risk.

Illustrative investment thesis. Any references to lower premiums, improved terms, greater capacity, or underwriting recognition are illustrative unless specifically documented. Actual insurance pricing depends on individual underwriting and market conditions.

§ 09How we think about it

Understand the risk.
Insure the risk.
Invest in what reduces it.

The long-term opportunity is to build modern risk infrastructure for the commercial space economy — sitting at the intersection of engineering reality and risk capital.

  • 01Space risk begins on Earth.
  • 02A spacecraft accumulates enormous financial exposure before launch.
  • 03Launch is only one component of mission risk.
  • 04Orbital debris and other emerging risks require better measurement.
  • 05Better technology can reduce expected losses.
  • 06Better testing and verification can reduce uncertainty.
  • 07Insurance converts technical risk into financial risk.
